Charles F. McAfee, FAIA and
his two daughters, Cheryl
McAfee-Mitchell, FAIA
and Charyl McAfee-Duncan, AIA,
make up CFM. Charles
is the chief executive officer and
managing principal of the Wichita office. Mr.
McAfee oversees the direction of all
architectural project planning. He actively
participates in all phases of the design
process, from pre-design through construction
administration. Mr. McAfee’s well-rounded
practice includes institutional, municipal,
correctional, educational, commercial and
office facilities. His design and construction
management experience encompasses new
construction, as well as expansions and
renovations to existing structures. He has
been consistently recognized for his
contributions to the architectural industry
through innovative design.

L. MCAFEE-MITCHELL, FAIA |

As
president, Cheryl McAfee-Mitchell,
FAIA is responsible for CFM’s office in Atlanta, Georgia, as well as
CFM’s international development.
For nearly five years she served as managing principal for
the firm’s participation in a joint venture with the Atlanta
Committee for the Olympic Games (ACOG). The
firm was involved in the effort with the conversion
of the Olympic Stadium to the Atlanta Braves Baseball Stadium.
McAfee-Mitchell’s
project experience includes major planning and urban design studies,
feasibility studies, and real estate investment programs.
She served as project manager for the Martin Luther King, Jr.
Boulevard corridor study, which is the main entrance to Fair Park
and the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas.
She also directed the transit service analysis of the
bi-state areas of St. Louis, Missouri, and St. Clair
County, Illinois. In addition, she
was also the project manager on the Atlanta Airport Project
Expansion. McAfee-Mitchell deftly manages a talented group of
professionals with diverse educations and backgrounds.
Cheryl
was elevated to Fellowship by AIA in 2003. |

Charyl
McAfee-Duncan, AIA
is CFM’s vice president and principal of
the Dallas office.
This highly versatile architect has 15 years of design and
management experience on projects ranging from the six-story Aston
Ambulatory Care Center near Parkland Hospital in Dallas to the $14
million renovation of 19 schools in Oklahoma City.
Charyl is the active Project Architect and
Principal on the
Central Oklahoma Transportation and
Parking Authority Project currently under
construction in Oklahoma City, as well as the Eastfield Science
Building in Dallas, Texas. Flexibility and adaptability are her fortés—she excels in
a variety of roles.
She has lectured throughout the Southwest to high school and
college students about women and people of ethnic descent in
architecture.
Currently she serves as co-chair of the City of Dallas Urban
Design Advisory Committee, as a subcommittee chair for the Dallas
chapter of The American Institute of Architects’ 1999 national
convention committee, and on the board of directors for the Dallas
Black Chamber of Commerce.
McAfee-Duncan was also recognized in the 1998
Onyx Hall of Fame as one of eight outstanding African-American
men and women in Dallas.
