The facility
houses the testing and manufacturing of industrial chemicals. In the
testing of the quality of its products there are three differing
laboratory functions which must be performed. These functions which are
principally not connected or related had to coexist in one structure. CFM
guided the program to successfully accommodate the atmospheric
isolation within each laboratory. To achieve accurate,
contamination-free results, all lab functions were connected with common
supply lines. The plan therefore evolved with a main access corridor
adjoining the labs on one side. The main corridor acts as a dividing
element between the labs and other supporting facilities, but the
isolation skylight system directs natural light into the building's
interior. Various supporting facilities included a carpeted reception
area, lab supervisor's office and conference room with kitchen and
supply stock room and restrooms.
