The program provides a new medical
clinic for general practice, on the fringe of a residential area. The
design solution was a single story wood structure with 1x6 tongue and
groove cedar siding applied diagonally as the exterior finish material.
Courtyards at either end of the building provide protected means of
entry. One adjacent to the waiting area for patients. The other as a
private entrance adjacent to the doctor’s offices. Steel grills and
gates in both courtyard openings have been provided for security. Glass
areas on the exterior, similarly, have bee limited. As a means of
transition to the interior, the diagonal cedar siding was carried into
the waiting area and offices. The remaining interior spaces consist of
painted gypsum board. Carpeting was used in the waiting area, offices
and down the corridors and vinyl tile was installed in all exam rooms
and other work spaces. Various functions included in this building are a
common waiting and reception area and adjacent pharmacy. Two parallel
rows of exam rooms to accommodate doctors and a shared work space
situated between, consisting of a laboratory, x-ray and dark room
facility and a minor surgery room.
